Sugar Me Dead (SMD) is a non profit organization advocating for all expecting parents to receive SUGAR specific nutrition education as early as possible.

 

Parents rarely receive SUGAR nutrition education from their medical providers. Yet, the latest research shows high intake of sugar during pregnancy (especially from sugar sweetened beverages) was associated with poor outcomes for children, including decreased childhood cognition, decreased non-verbal abilities to solve novel problems, and poorer verbal memory. Indeed, most nutrition education is given in response to a problem (gestational diabetes, rapid weight gain, picky eaters, nutrient deficiencies, etc.). In other words, it's REACTIVE. It's time to be PROACTIVE.

We are advocating that all expecting parents receive SUGAR specific nutrition education as early as possible, ideally within the first trimester.
